Due to old age, intermittent weight loss and gravity, sagging occurs in the back and inner parts of the arm. The amount of adipose tissue accumulated with sagging varies from person to person. Therefore, each patient should be evaluated individually. Arm lift surgery (Brachioplasty) can be performed alone or in conjunction with other body contouring surgeries. It is an intervention recommended for people with significant deformation, as scars will form on the arm as a result of this surgery. Arm lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia. Elliptical skin and fat tissues are removed through an incision made downwards from the armpit area. Then this area is sutured. A drain is placed to collect blood and body fluids that may accumulate inside. These drains are removed after 24-48 hours. Daily activities are restricted for 2-3 weeks after the surgery. Stitches are removed in 10-14 days. Activities such as sports can be started after 6 weeks. In addition, the fact that the suture line is in a moving area and is subject to gravity are factors that may cause the scar to expand. Therefore, these surgeries are the preferred and applied procedures for patients with significant sagging and deformation.
